1. What Selah Is (and Is Not)
Selah is an AI-guided Christian journaling application. It is designed to help users reflect on their faith through personal writing and scripture. The AI companion draws on your journal entries to suggest relevant scripture, reflection questions, and personalized responses that deepen over time.
Selah is not:
- ✦A licensed mental health or counseling service
- ✦A theological authority or substitute for clergy, a pastor, or spiritual director
- ✦A crisis intervention service
- ✦A replacement for prayer, Scripture, or Christian community
- ✦A source of doctrinal truth — AI responses are for personal reflection only
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Selah. By using the service, you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you represent that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these terms on your behalf.
3. Your Account
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Do not share your password. Notify us immediately at support@meetselah.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. You may not create accounts for other people without their permission or create multiple accounts to circumvent free tier limits. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
4. Subscriptions & Billing
Selah offers a free tier and a paid subscription tier ("Faith Builder"). Paid subscriptions are billed monthly or annually as selected at checkout.
Free trial. New users receive 7 days of full Faith Builder access with no credit card required. After the trial, accounts automatically revert to the free tier. No charges are made without an active payment method on file.
Cancellation. You may cancel your subscription at any time from Settings → Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You retain access through the end of the paid period. We do not provide prorated refunds for partial billing periods.
Refunds. Refund requests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Contact support@meetselah.com within 7 days of a charge if you believe a refund is warranted.
Price changes. We may change subscription pricing with at least 30 days' advance notice to your registered email address. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.
Payment is processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you also agree to Stripe's terms of service. We do not store your payment details.
5. Your Content
You own the content you write in Selah. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your journal entries.
By using the service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store and process your journal entries for the sole purpose of delivering your personalized experience — generating AI responses, building your session context, and, with your consent, maintaining your semantic profile over time.
We do not sell your journal content. We do not share it with third parties for commercial purposes. We do not use your raw entry text to train AI models. See our Privacy Policy for the full details of how your data is handled, including your consent choices for personalization and product improvement.
You agree not to use Selah to submit content that is unlawful, harassing, or intended to harm others.
6. Data Consent & Personalization
During onboarding you will be presented with two optional consent choices: (1) allowing Selah to build a semantic profile of your journaling patterns to personalize your experience over time, and (2) allowing anonymized behavioral signals to be used to improve Selah for all users.
Both choices are optional, both default to on, and both can be changed at any time from Settings → Privacy & Data. Neither involves sharing your entry text with any third party. Full details of what each consent covers are in our Privacy Policy, Section 5.
7. AI-Generated Content
Selah uses the Anthropic Claude API to generate responses based on your journal entries. AI responses are intended for personal reflection and are not theological verdicts, doctrinal positions, or professional advice of any kind.
AI responses may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or contextually imprecise. You are responsible for evaluating AI suggestions in light of your own faith, tradition, and discernment. We recommend verifying scripture references independently.
Selah's AI is designed to respond within broadly Christian frameworks, but it is not a substitute for your pastor, priest, spiritual director, or mental health professional.
8. Crisis & Emergency Situations
Selah is not a crisis service and cannot respond in real time to emergencies. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, please contact emergency services (911 in the US) or the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988. Selah may surface crisis resources within the app, but this is not a substitute for professional intervention.
9. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- ✦Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or extract data from Selah
- ✦Use Selah for any unlawful purpose
- ✦Interfere with the security or integrity of the service
- ✦Create multiple accounts to circumvent free tier limits
- ✦Share account access with others
- ✦Use automated tools or bots to interact with the service
- ✦Attempt to access another user's data
Violation of these terms may result in immediate account suspension or termination without refund.
10. Service Availability & Changes
We aim to keep Selah available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted uptime. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time with reasonable notice.
If we discontinue the service entirely, we will provide at least 60 days' notice and a clear opportunity to export your complete journal archive before shutdown.
11. Disclaimers
Selah is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from harmful components.
We are not responsible for decisions you make based on AI-generated content, scripture suggestions, or reflections offered by Selah.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Selah and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid to Selah in the 12 months preceding the claim.
13. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts located in Broward County, Florida.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service as the product evolves. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before changes take effect. Continued use of Selah after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
